In the last two weeks, since the strain math finally started behaving the way we expected, Astrea slowly reached V1. Every screen we set out to build for this version is built, and we’re now waiting on Apple’s Review. We’re a little nervous, but also excited.
What we shipped is the Trends tab, with all four segments live: Recovery, Sleep, Fitness and Strain, each with its own history. Today tells you where you are this morning. Trends is where you find out whether the training you’ve been doing is the training you think you’ve been doing.
The charts were the hard part

Getting the numbers right was hard. Getting a chart to tell the truth about them was harder, and it took far more time than we want to admit.
You can draw something that’s technically correct and still watch someone squint at it and ask what they’re looking at. That happened, again and again. So we redrew. And redrew. And yesterday we deleted a whole chart we’d spent real time on, because the one sitting next to it was already saying the same thing more clearly.
Are we finished? Not really. We have a list of things we still want to change, and none of it gets touched until V1 is approved. The formulas underneath aren’t perfect, and we won’t pretend otherwise. So we’ll keep refining them, because we want a number you can actually trust.
We’re building Astrea as part of the Shipaton hackathon, but we won’t stop there — not even if the app doesn’t make the deadline. Our mission is agency over your own health, and that starts with being able to read and own your own data.
So we’ll keep moving. But right now, we’re waiting on Apple’s Review.
If you could see one more thing on your Trends page, once it’s live, what would it be? Write us at info@astrea.fit — we’re taking notes.
